Ok, I admit it, we are terrible bloggers.  Work got in the way but our dream of circumnavigation has not died.  Back in July, while we were still on the hard getting Firefly ready, we got a comment from a good friend that our blog read like a manual (a work manual).  Well it was true.  We bought an older boat and it needed some TLC to the tenth degree.  We are actually still working on her in Marathon Florida, with a focus on safety and strength.  Thank you Fatty Goodlander!

“What could possibly be left to do” you might ask?  Well, there is the 36 year old windlass that needs to be replaced or rebuilt, a few more port lights that need to be re-cored and re-bedded, a watermaker to build, a wind vane to purchase and install, an SSB with tuner, antenna and counterpoise, a new battery bank and on and on…

Sometimes I look at all that is to be done and get overwhelmed but then I remember all the islands we visited in the Eastern Caribbean and how utterly beautiful they were and I can’t wait to get back out there to explore and experience all that there is.

While we are working on the boat we are planning our route, buying charts and cruising guides and dreaming of faraway places.
